What the CFC worked on in the 2007 Arkansas General Assembly

The Citizens First Congress remains vigilant on agricultural issues; however, there simply were not many bills filed this session that would adversely affect agriculture in Arkansas.

Accomplishments of the CFC in the 2005 Arkansas General Assembly

Passed a bill creating an Arkansas Department of Agriculture after a 7 year campaign - by one vote in the House and two votes in the Senate. Governors Bumpers and Clinton had both tried to create a Department of Agriculture and were not successful. It was an historic victory for the Arkansas Citizens First Congress. Many farmers and their families traveled to the Capitol to lobby for a department, and the Citizens First Congress made approximately 15,000 phone bank calls and mailed 1,000 post cards.
