CFC Priorities for the 2011 Legislative Session

  • Protect Arkansas's water resources by developing a new state water plan that uses the best science and engages a broad range of Arkansans.
  • Pass a Property Owner Bill of Rights that spells out landowners’ rights when addressing oil and gas company operations and resulting pollution on their property.

Past Accomplishments

2009

2007

The Citizens First Congress remains vigilant on agricultural issues; however, there simply were not many bills filed this session that would adversely affect agriculture in Arkansas.

2005

Passed a bill creating an Arkansas Department of Agriculture after a 7 year campaign - by one vote in the House and two votes in the Senate. Governors Bumpers and Clinton had both tried to create a Department of Agriculture and were not successful. It was an historic victory for the Arkansas Citizens First Congress. Many farmers and their families traveled to the Capitol to lobby for a department, and the Citizens First Congress made approximately 15,000 phone bank calls and mailed 1,000 post cards.
