Public Health Update - February 17

We Support:

• Our public health priority for a better Arkansas this session includes expanding HIV-AIDS prevention, testing and treatment programs for minority and rural communities where the disease is spreading most rapidly.  We are working with the Minority HIV-AIDS Taskforce we helped create last session to prepare legislation now.

We Oppose:

• HB 1017 would repeal insurance coverage for invitro fertilization.  Viagra stays covered though.

We are monitoring:

• HB 1354 modernizes the role of county health officers.
• HB 1031 would require insurance policies to cover prostate cancer screening for men 40 years or older who have the highest risk of the disease.
