Energy Efficiency's Last Chance at AR Legislature
Do Something About Global Warming and Save Money!
Apr 05, 2009After utility companies killed your chance to save $700 million and help the environment last week, there is still a chance to help Government in Arkansas become more efficient and reduce greenhouse gasses!
It will likely be vote on MONDAY morning!
SJR6 by Sen. Broadway will place a bond measure on the November 2010 ballot that would allow local and state government to issue bonds to pay for making building more energy efficient, to be paid off with the energy savings.
Please call/e-mail the legislators listed below and ask them to support SJR6!
The Legislature is allowed to refer 3 ballot items or constitutional amendments each legislative session to the ballot for people to vote on. They have already referred 2 this session -- on economic development and on the "right to hunt" that messes with the Game and Fish Commission. These still need to be approved by Arkansas voters to be enacted.
That leaves just one more, and it will be decided by the Senate and House Joint State Agencies and Governmental Affairs Committee -- most likely on Monday. SJR6 is the last chance this legislature will have to make our energy systems more efficient and clean -- don't let them miss the opportunity!
Please call or e-mail the following legislators and ask them to support SJR6:
