The Arkansas Legislature is in session!

Dear Friend,

Today at noon, the 2011 legislative session began. Over the next three months, your Representatives and Senators will consider thousands of bills, and the Citizens First Congress will be your eyes and ears at the Capitol!

Get to know a little bit about your legislators - check out the CFC's Legislative Directory for photos and contact information as well as an info sheet and map on every committee.

As the session moves forward, we will keep an eye on every bill filed - and you can follow legislation through our Bill Tracking system. Check out bills about our Ten Priorities, stay informed about education or environmental bills, or keep up with a bill's progress during the session.

Most importantly, help us move Arkansas forward by joining us at the Capitol! CFC Lobby Days give you a chance to talk to your legislators over a meal or lobby them at the Capitol, watch the House and Senate in action, and meet people from all over who are working to make a better Arkansas.

The Citizens First Congress is a grassroots coalition of 49 community groups
from across Arkansas that works on progressive reform at the Arkansas Legislature.
Our Ten Priorities for a Better Arkansas for the 2011 Arkansas Legislature are:

  • Improve opportunities to learn for all students.
  • Expand the ARKids First health insurance program.
  • Require the oil and gas industry to follow best management practices.
  • Oppose state-level immigration reform.
  • Support fair tax reform.
  • Implement fair energy policies.
  • Develop a new state water plan.
  • Support the DREAM Act.
  • Increase penalties for wage theft.
  • Reform prison sentencing practices.
